Leon Effila
Leon Effila was born in Yaounde, Cameroon. He grew up surrounded by music, especially thanks to his grandmother who was singing in a church choir. As a young boy, Leon shared his time between the life in the city (Yaounde is the political capital of Cameroon) and the more traditional world of the typical African village where his grandmother was from. As many Africans, football plays an important role in his life. As a teenager, Leon became a junior member of the national team as a goalkeeper. As a young man, music took over and with it came a desire to see the world. Leon started to travel and bought his first guitar in Spain. He was inspired by the different types of music he encountered through this: Blues, Jazz, Soul, R&B, Rock, Salsa, Hip Hop, Bossa Nova, and of course traditional African music such as Bikutssi.
Leon loves composing music and has been playing live in Paris with various musicians, as well as recently participating in a fashion about music with Jean Paul Gautier.
He dedicates his album 'Hot Ice' to a more united world.
