Rough Science

ROUGH SCIENCE are a 6 piece outfit from Camden & Kentish Town, North London. The two main writers, Lui "fingaz" Sanchez and Oja "Sekani" Simon, have been working together for several years (formerly JOINT ENTERPRISE) One day they stumbled on a sound they really liked and decided to follow it through, (mainly to see if it was a fluke or not) lo and behold, they found a new style that seemed to suit them ideally. they decided to approach a local studio and 6 months later produced their first demo EP.

They realized they would need a backing band to get this sound on the road, and so ROUGH SCIENCE formed in February 2008. Humorous and rowdy, they mash together many musical influences (rock, house etc) and combined with some very catchy, but melodic hooks, make it all sound quite simple, throw in some hip hop production values to boot (just so everyone can feel the bass) and that about sums up their style. Lyrically, they like talking about off the wall type situations playing on conceptual ideas as subject matter for songs ie; AUTOMATIC is a story of a guy who keeps blacking out and awakening to find some gory situation he has no recollection of, it turns out hes a secret spy without knowing it (THE BOURNE IDENTITY??) OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE : is about a stalker besotted (to the extreme) by a woman, and basically being a slave to his fantasies and uncontrollable urges. (it is probably worth mentioning none of the band members are actual stalkers!!) They are also working towards an album which should be ready by the end of 2008, if the EP is anything to go by, it promises to be a proper banger.
